[Excerpt]

MITCHELL

(Takes a document out of the folder, examining it.)

Impressive work, Bill. Where’d you get a hold of this?

O’NEAL

Made it myself. Over at my father’s apartment. Drew the Bureau emblem on a piece of poster board and took my picture in front of it with a polaroid camera.

MITCHELL

Got a real flair for design, son.

(Pause.)

So, what exactly were you planning on doing with it?

O’NEAL

Nothing. Some people tried to take something that didn’t belong to them, so I decidedI was going to give ‘em a good scare.

MITCHELL

By playing FBI agent?

O’NEAL

You should’ve seen their faces when I flashed that badge. I thought they was gonna shit in their pants.

MITCHELL

You liked that, hunh?

O’NEAL

Only problem was one of them turned out to be a cop. When he showed me his badge that scared the shit out of   me. It was like looking in the mirror and seeing somebody else’s face.

MITCHELL

Strange things happen sometimes when you’re working undercover.

(Pause.)

So, tell me about the car.

O’NEAL

Which car?

MITCHELL

The red Barracuda. Was that the first time? Or just the first time you slipped up?
